Gernot Rohr has restated his decision to invite players who are fit and are playing regularly in their clubs as the preparation for the June 2019 AFCON tourney gets underway.
The Super Eagles boss would not mind if the injured captain of the Super Eagles, Mikel Obi is sidelined for next year’s AFCON tourney holding in Cameroon in the bid to ensure adherence and total compliance on his watchword to ensure a formidable Eagles for the tourney.
“I respect Mikel, he has done a lot for the national team.”
“He is always in the team's plan but he has to be playing regularly like other players that would eventually be invited and must be fit,” the 65-year old Eagles handler said.
Mikel is presently in Nigeria on vacation but has been sidelined in the last two national assignment which included the away crucial AFCON qualifier against South Africa and the Uganda international warm-up match in Asaba owing to injury.
