New Tottenham boss, Jose Mourinho has already identified three players he’s interested in bringing to Spurs during his initial discussions with club chairman Daniel Levy.
After just three wins from 12 league games, the Portuguese is aware of the daunting task ahead and revealed at his opening press conference that Spurs are some way from competing for the title in their current state.
However, the 56-year-old insists his team could be challenging the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool next season after some rebuilding.
Tottenham’s defence is arguably the most pressing concern, with both Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld out of contract next summer.
The Special One will attempt to persuade the Belgian duo to renew, but if talks are not successful, he’s told the club that Benfica centre-back Ruben Dias should be targeted, that’s according to The Independent.
The report claims that both Bruno Fernandes and Nemanja Matic have also been name-checked, with Mourinho looking to prop his options in midfield.
Nemanja Matic, who has fallen out of favour at Manchester United, has hinted on Instagram that he could be open to a possible reunion with Mourinho at Tottenham.
Reports suggest Mourinho is also preparing a shock move for Zlatan Ibrahimovic following the Swede’s exit from LA Galaxy.
