Super Eagles’ striker Odion Ighalo has arrived Uyo ahead of Nigeria’s first exercises on the pitch this afternoon.
The Air Peace flight that brought the ex-Watford star from Lagos touched down at the Akwa Ibom Airport just about 13:05 hours.
The Changchun Yatai striker was able to board the plane despite the National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE), Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN) and the National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE) embarking on a protest on Wednesday morning.
Ighalo will carry out a recovery session, that is if he does not train fully with the Super Eagles at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.
The 29-year-old has been in brilliant form for Changchun Yatai since he returned to China after international duty with the Nigeria national team at the 2018 World Cup, scoring 13 goals in 14 league games.
Ighalo was amongst the scorers in Nigeria’s 3-0 beating of Seychelles on matchday two of the AFCON qualifiers.
