Elsewhere, Remo Stars tried to stage a comeback against Kwara United in Ilorin with two late goals to cut the deficit to 3-2, but the home side held on for the victory.

Akwa United produced a scintillating performance at the Aper Aku Stadium in Makurdi to beat Lobi Stars 2-1 on the road. The result means that Lobi dropped to fifth-place while the Promise Keepers moved out of the relegation zone.
A double from Andy Okpe helped Rivers United to record a 4-1 win in Port Harcourt against Sporting Lagos. The Pride of Rivers moved into the top eight, but still six points away from the top four.
At the lower end of the table, Heartland beat fellow strugglers Gombe United 3-0. Both teams lie precariously 19th and 20th on the log.
Doma United fell into the drop zone for the first time this season after coming out second-best in Kano in a game that finished 3-1 for the Sai Masu Gida faithfuls.
