Tottenham’s new boss Nuno Espirito Santo has reacted to Harry Kane’s statement that he will be staying at North London this season.
However, Manchester City wouldn’t meet Spurs’ high asking price, and Kane’s lengthy contract means he’s been forced to stay at the club for the coming season.
Announcing his decision to stay, the England captain said:
“I will be staying at Tottenham this summer and will be 100% focused on helping the team achieve success.”
Some fans had picked up on Kane’s emphasis on ‘this summer’, posing the question that he may look to move on next summer when he will have two years left on his contract at Spurs.
And when asked about the news, Kane’s manager Santo also appeared to carefully choose his words that Kane’s new stance may only apply for the coming season.
The Spurs boss said: “Great news. Fantastic news. I think since Harry joined us he has been working so this is what we value. His attitude in training has been excellent.
“It’s finished, Harry is going to be with us. He is an option for tomorrow. It is great news for everybody. We are all very happy one of the best players in the world. Delighted to have one more option for the season ahead of us.”
Santo added that he’s not expecting transfer talk to resurface in January regarding Kane.
