Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is of the opinion that Manchester United have two players similar to Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo in their current squad.
Solskjaer has brought fast counter-attacking football back to the club, something which he thinks is possible due to their new attacking axis utilising pacey forwards.
United's new approach has been pivotal to the manner of performance under the Norwegian coach, with away wins at both Tottenham and Arsenal fine examples of their fresh style.
Although there are many differences between his current side and the one which won the Champions League 11 years ago, the United manager believes Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford are playing similarly to Rooney and Ronaldo.
“Even though we have different players, Marcus and Anthony are not very different to Cristiano and Wayne,” he told Sky Sports.
The Norwegian coach revealed that ahead of that meeting at the Emirates he showed the team clips of both his goal against Arsenal in 1997, as well as clips from the famous 2009 Champions League semi-final.
Solskjaer added that his approach at United has been hugely boosted by the trust which he has in his players.
Solskjaer continued: “My belief is to trust players and to trust them to play the right way. To try to dominate teams, to try to win games the right way. To play the way that we do now with Manchester United.”
