The delay in confirming Jadon Sancho's arrival at Manchester United was reportedly due to the 21-year-old's request which was denied by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Solskjaer is said to have turned down Sancho's request to wear the no.7 shirt.
The England winger completed his £73m transfer from Borussia Dortmund on Friday as the transfer saga finally came to a close.
And according to the Daily Mail, the delay in confirming his arrival was due to Sancho's desire to wear the no.7 shirt, which is occupied by Edinson Cavani, that he wore at Dortmund.
The report states that the Old Trafford boss would not grant his request as Sancho would end up taking the no.25 jersey (2+5=7. He was also born on March 25).
Solskjaer was delighted to finally secure a deal for the England International who makes his long-awaited arrival at Old Trafford with the transfer in the pipeline since last summer.
