Victor Osimhen was stretchered-off the pitch in the closing stages of Napoli’s 4-2 loss to Italian rivals Atalanta on Sunday evening.
The Super Eagles striker was immediately rushed to the hospital following the incident after he collided with centre-back Cristian Romero during the encounter.
Osimhen who was handed his seventh start of the season against Atalanta struggled to make an impact for the entire duration he lasted on the pitch as he managed just one shot and two dribbles.
With few minutes left before the end of the game, the 22-year-old collided with Romero and was immediately taken out on a stretcher.
The club said in a statement:
“Victor Osimhen, following the injury with head trauma suffered in the final minutes of Atalanta-Napoli, underwent tests with negative results.
“The player will remain in Bergamo until tomorrow under the clinical observation of the blue health manager Raffaele Canonico.”
The Nigerian youngster has only played 16 games across all competitions for Napoli, scoring two goals and providing one assist since his €80 million move from Lille last summer.
