Barcelona forward, Ousmane Dembele has been ruled out for over two months with his third muscle injury of the season, the latest chapter in a career bruised by repeated fitness concerns.
A statement from Barca on Friday said the 22-year-old had injured his right hamstring and would be sidelined for approximately 10 weeks.
The France international was in tears as he limped off in the first half of Barcelona’s 3-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Wednesday.
The Frenchman signed for the Catalan club from Dortmund in 2017 for 105 million euros (£89.5million) but his debut season was warped by a hamstring problem which necessitated surgery and kept him out for longer than five months.
Dembele has made only five starts in all competitions this term and will miss next month’s ‘Clasico’ against Real Madrid plus the redone Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia in January.
