Predicting Every Result For Week One Of The New NFL Season

The NFL returns in early September, and fans of American football are rubbing their hands in anticipation of the new campaign. In many ways, it feels like just yesterday that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers triumphed in February’s Super Bowl, but after a long and intriguing off-season, the 32 teams are back to battle it out once again.

Week one offers up some interesting match-ups, and for those of you interested in the NFL odds, we’ve put together our predictions for every game. Read on and see if you agree!

Dallas Cowboys                @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers

As is tradition, the defending Super Bowl winners get the new season underway, and we’re backing Tom Brady and co. to get off to a strong start. However, the Dallas Cowboys boast a rich history of success in the NFL, and must not be taken lightly.

Prediction: Buccaneers win

Los Angeles Chargers @ Washington Football Team

The Washington Football Team certainly enjoyed a better 2020 season than the LA Chargers, making it to the play-offs after winning the NFC East. The Chargers posted a losing record of seven wins and nine losses, which wasn’t atrocious, but it’s hard to see them getting a result at FedEx Field.

Prediction: Chargers win

Seattle Seahawks @ Indianapolis Colts

After narrowly losing out to the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round of the play-offs last season, the Indianapolis Colts will be out to go further this time around. However, with Pete Carroll on a mission to bring the good times back to Seattle, we have a feeling the Seahawks will get the win on the road.

Prediction: Seahawks win

Philadelphia Eagles @ Atlanta Falcons

Two teams who have won or contested the Super Bowl in recent years, both the Philadelphia Eagles and the Atlanta Falcons have since dropped off, with the two teams propping up the NFC standings last season. It will be tight but we’ll go for a narrow home win.

Prediction: Falcons win

New York Jets @ Carolina Panthers

The New York Jets and Carolina Panthers were another couple of also-rans last season, and it’s fair to say that neither look particularly likely to go far this year either. We’ll predict a win for Carolina.

Prediction: Panthers win

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Houston Texans

Both the Jaguars and the Texans have promised much but delivered little in recent years. Jacksonville won just one game last season, a far cry from the team that almost made the Super Bowl in 2018, but we think they’ll get back on track with a win in week one.

Prediction: Jaguars win

San Francisco 49ers @ Detroit Lions

The 49ers came oh-so close to winning the Super Bowl in 2020, losing out to the Kansas City Chiefs in the showpiece game, and we think they’ll get the ball rolling with a victory in Detroit on opening day.

Prediction: 49ers win

Arizona Cardinals @ Tennessee Titans

The Titans are some NFL fans’ outside pick in the American football betting tips to win the Super Bowl this season, and this day-one clash with the Cardinals will be a test of their mettle. We think they have the quality to get the job done.

Prediction: Titans win

Minnesota Vikings @ Cincinnati Bengals

The Vikings were unfortunate not to make the play-offs last season, and will be hoping to cut out some of those poor performances this campaign. We have a feeling they’ll strike the right note against the Bengals.

Prediction: Vikings win

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Buffalo Bills

No-one has won more Super Bowls than the Pittsburgh Steelers, but it’s been over 10 years since they last contested the showpiece game. The Bills, meanwhile, are still searching for that first Super Bowl crown after four successive losses in the 1990s. Let’s go for the Bills to win this one.

Prediction: Bills win

Miami Dolphins               @ New England Patriots

After missing the play-offs for the first time in over a decade last season, the New England Patriots are on a mission to rediscover their best form. We’re confident they’ll start with a win against Miami.

Prediction: Patriots win

Green Bay Packers @ New Orleans Saints

The Packers are fancied by many to perform well this season and are some people’s picks for the NFC title. They face a tough task first up at the Saints, but they should have enough quality to pick up the win at Lambeau Field.

Prediction: Packers win

Cleveland Browns @ Kansas City Chiefs

Considered by most as the Super Bowl favourites after contesting it for the game for last two years running, the Kansas City Chiefs start up against the Cleveland Browns. No contest in our eyes.

Prediction: Chiefs win

Denver Broncos @ New York Giants

It’s been over five years since the Denver Broncos won the Super Bowl, and nearly ten since the Giants triumphed. With neither of the teams making the play-offs last season, who will come out on top in this one? We think the Broncos.

Prediction: Broncos win

Chicago Bears @ Los Angeles Rams

The Rams are another side being touted as potential Super Bowl winners, having settled in nicely to their new surroundings in Los Angeles. They face the Bears on opening weekend, who also made the play-offs last season. We suspect the Rams will have too much quality.

Prediction: Rams win

Baltimore Ravens @ Las Vegas Raiders

Capping off the opening round of fixtures a chance to see the Raiders in action at their new Las Vegas home for the first time. It’s an exciting time for Las Vegas football fans, but we have a feeling the Ravens will come and spoil the party!
