Last night, the nightmare was made even more real after being thrashed by Ajax in the Champions League at the Bernabeu.

A swashbuckling Ajax thrashed the European champions in their own backyard after goals from Hakim Ziyech, Lasse Schone, Dusan Tadic and David Neres lead them to a historic 4-1 win.

Obviously Real have no chance of winning any silverware this season and Solari's job is set to be axed after only joining mid-season taking over from Julen Lopetegui.

AS have reported who is in line to take the job, but one fan favourite is missing.

They report that Massimiliano Allegri of Juventus is among the frontrunners, who has won Serie A every year he has been in charge of Juventus.

Another is Mauricio Pochettino, who has gained continental fame for taking Tottenham to another level.

The last is Germany boss Joachim Low, with the World Cup winning manager a long-term target of Real president Florentino Perez.

There was one name on Los Blancos' fans lips after the defeat last night – Jose Mourinho.
