Real Madrid have prepared a sensational offer of Gareth Bale plus £70million for Raheem Sterling, according to reports.
Manchester City forward Sterling has developed into one of the best players in the world since joining City from Liverpool in 2015 and enjoyed a stunning start to the season.
Scoring 17 goals in 19 games for club and country, Sterling has helped the Premier League champions impress both domestically and in Europe and starred in three England victories.
The La Liga heavyweights expressed interest in signing the 24-year-old last year and in the summer and Sky Sports say representatives from the Spanish club will travel to watch Sterling in action for England next month.
Real Madrid are keen to secure a deal for the City star, with Los Blancos President Florentino Perez fearful that his £150m valuation will soar even higher over the next 12 months.
In order to tempt City to sell one of their prized assets, Real Madrid will reportedly offer £70m plus Bale as a makeweight in a sensational deal.
The 30-year-old Bale has won a number of trophies at the Bernabeu but is again at risk of being frozen out by returning manager Zinedine Zidane.
The Wales superstar has not featured for Madrid in over a month but City are not believed to be interested in bringing him back to the Premier League.
Meanwhile, City are reportedly hoping to tie Sterling down to a new long-term contract.
