Kelechi Iheanacho is now a changed player who is working harder, but he still lacks self-belief and he is unhappy, the Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has revealed.
Last year, Rohr publicly blasted the Leicester forward as being “unprofessional”.
But he has now admitted Iheanacho has turned a new leaf.
“Iheanacho has changed, he is much quieter and working seriously,” the coach remarked.
“But he’s missing confidence because he didn’t play so much (at his club).
“I watched the game between Leicester City and Chelsea in England with my assistant, but he didn’t even come in.
“He’s not happy. He wants us to make him happy, but we don’t give gifts. There’s competition as we have a lot of wingers and centre-forwards now and we have to choose.”
Critics have predicted he will be one of two players to be dropped from the squad to the AFCON.
