Nigerian international midfielder Azubuike Okechukwu is set to join Turkish side Sivasspor from former Istanbul Başakşehir, according to a report by Gazaterize.
Okechukwu’s move to Sivasspor will end his two-year stint with Başakşehir which he joined in 2019 on loan from Egyptian Premier League side Pyramids FC.
The 24-year-old featured in 17 league matches to help the Gray Owls win the 2020 Turkish championship, making the club immediately seal his signing permanently ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.
However, things went south for the Katsina-born Okechukwu who played only nine league games as the Gray Owls finished in a disappointing 12th position.
And now, the Braves are keen to hand the defensive midfielder a fresh start in the country ahead of the 2021/22 season.
Okechukwu will become the third Nigerian at Sivasspor, following the earlier signings of Super Eagles striker Olanrewaju Kayode and former Molde forward Leke James.
