Solskjaer To Give Odion Ighalo Regular Striker Role At Man Utd

Solskjaer Give Ighalo Regular Striker

Manchester United surprised everyone on transfer deadline day when they decided to bring Odion Ighalo in on loan from Shanghai Shenhua.

And the Nigeria international appears to have been written off before he’s even kicked a ball.

The common consensus is, though, that the 30-year-old will merely be a squad player at Old Trafford.

But that notion may not be correct. Instead, he may be given the role of first-team striker amid the struggles of Anthony Martial.

With Martial struggling, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may end up giving Ighalo the role of first-team striker instead.

The United boss is said to be privately happy with the signing of the former Super Eagles striker, who the club have kept tabs on for a number of years.

And, should Martial be chosen to play as well, both of them could line up as centre-forwards together.

GoalBall understand that Martial could be moved to the wing so that the Nigerian can take the centre-forward spot.

So there’s every chance the Red Devils will give Ighalo a surprising role during his brief spell with United.

And, should Ighalo impress, a permanent move could be forthcoming.
