Rumours in Italy suggest there could be a Serie A club set to rival the Gunners for Rodriguez with a potentially important connection.
Arsenal could face competition in their bid to sign James Rodriguez after he was linked with a shock move to Serie A. According to Corriere dello Sport, the Colombian could link up with former manager Carlo Ancelotti at Napoli as he ponders an early exit from his loan at Bayern Munich.
Rodriguez enjoyed his best season at Real Madrid under Ancelotti and the experienced Italian is a known admirer of the attacking midfielder.
The Gunners are prepared to pay Barcelona €2million to complete a loan deal for their top January target Denis Suarez.
Arsenal are then primed to pay an additional €20million to make the move permanent in the summer, should the Spaniard impress in north London, according to RAC1.
