Technical Director of Nigeria Football Federation, Bitrus Bewarang has urged the Super Eagles to learn from the difficult victory they secured against Burundi on Saturday.

Speaking days after Nigeria’s 1-0 win against AFCON 2019’s lowest-ranked team, Bitrus said the players must know it is time to step things up.

He disclosed that they must know that there are no small teams in Africa anymore.

His words, “The most important thing is that we were able to take the maximum points. I believe that the victory will set the stage for better performances subsequently.

“By now the team should know that there are no longer minnows in African football. Every match should henceforth be taken seriously.”

“The first half of the game was lackluster by the Eagles’ standard and the Burundians even had two clear-cut chances to take the lead in spite of Nigeria’s dominance,”

“The second half was livelier than the first because the team came out more and the substitutions made by the coach proved vital to Nigeria’s victory,”

“Going forward, the coaching crew has to be more open to tactical switches.
