Super Eagles Depart Base Camp For St. Petersburg Ahead of Argentina Clash

The Super Eagles and officials will jet out this afternoon from their base camp in Essentuki to St. Petersburg where they will play their final Group D match with Argentina.

The Eagles held their first training session ahead of their meeting with Argentina but only those that did not start the game took part in the full training session.

The workout began with a run around a nearby lake, then the players hit the pitch for a fitness session and ball work.

Captain Obi Mikel was seen undergoing a recovery workout with his left hand bandaged, which should mean that he is fine to face Argentina on Tuesday night after sustaining an injury in the closing minutes of their 2-0 win over Iceland.

Wilfred Ndidi, Ahmed Musa, Troost-Ekong, Leon Balogun and Kelechi Iheanacho were among the Super Eagles players that carried out specific stretching exercises with the team’s fitness trainer.

Nigeria will qualify for the last sixteen of the World Cup without needing any kind of permutations if they beat Argentina.
