Dessers Sad Over Postponement Of AFCON Qualifier vs Sierra Leone

Newly invited Super Eagles forward, Cyriel Dessers has expressed disappointment with the postponement of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sierra Leone following the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus in the country.

The Heracles Almelo striker was expected to make his debut against Sierra Leone on March 27 at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba but will have to wait for a while when the pandemic would have been subdued.

Having scored 15 goals in 26 appearances for his club, Dessers told Nos.nl that he would have been delighted to have made his debut against Sierra Leone.

“Pooh, in the beginning, it was mentally tough. I was excited because that would have been the best moment of my career,” Dessers told nos.nl.

“But of course there are now many more important things going on for everyone. That debut would have to wait.”
