Super Eagles' Loss Madagascar Festus Keyamo

Festus Keyamo (SAN) has disclosed that the Super Eagles of Nigeria were defeated 2-0 by Madagascar at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday due to ‘complacency’.

Keyamo explained that the Eagles went into the match knowing they had already qualified for the next round.

He, however, urged Nigerians to continue to have faith in the team.

Nigeria on Sunday, lost 2-0 to Madagascar, in their final Group B fixture at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations.

Lalaina Nomenjanahary pounced on Leon Balogun’s slip in the 13th minute, to give Madagascar a shock lead.

Gernot Rohr’s men came out fighting in the second half, but Carolus Andriamahitsinoro made it 2-0 and all but ended the encounter as a contest.

But reacting, Keyamo, in a tweet on Sunday night said: “Complacency played a big part in the loss of the Super Eagles to Madagascar.

“They went into the match knowing they had already qualified for the next round. Going forward, I urge all Nigerians to continue to have faith in the team.

“We are still very much in this tournament.”

Madagascar finished top with seven points, while the Super Eagles are runners-up with six points.
