Super Eagles striker Ndifreke Effiong joins Al-Ahly again

Super Eagles striker, Ndifreke Effiong has rejoined Libyan Premier League side, Al-Ahly SC Benghazi.

The former Akwa United striker and captain recently left the Al-Ahly Benghazi following the expiration of his short-term loan deal.

He has now signed a three-year contract with the Butchers.

It would be recalled that the 2016 Olympic bronze medalist scored six goals in 9 appearances for the Libyan side after leaving Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions Akwa United during the 2020/21 mid-season break.

Prior to his initial departure, he played for the ‘Promise Keepers’ from 2019 to 2021 and scored 17 goals in 31 games.

The 23-year-old represented Nigeria at the 2015 African Games, the 2015 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations and the 2016 Summer Olympics. He made his debut for the Super Eagles on 26 March 2019 in a friendly against Egypt, as a 90th-minute substitute for Shehu Abdullahi.
