It’s just a matter of hours Edinson Cavani will become a Manchester United player after a deal was agreed with the striker – but what shirt number could he wear?
The Uruguayan is now expected to sign a two-year deal at Old Trafford.
Here’s a look at the four most likely options:
The famous No 7 shirt is vacant following Alexis Sanchez’s move to Inter Milan.
Cavani wore No 9 at PSG but that one is currently taken by Martial.
The Uruguan previously wore the No 7 at Napoli, so he could wear that number once again.
The No 12 is currently assigned to Chris Smalling, but the defender has been linked with a move to Roma.
Similar to the previous option, the PSG legend may opt for the No 20 shirt as it is close to 21 he has been known to wear.
Diogo Dalot has been wearing the No 20 shirt for the Red Devils but is reportedly on his way to AC Milan on loan.
Cavani doesn’t appear to have any links to the No 32 shirt.
However, it has become a common choice for strikers in the modern game and it is currently vacant at Old Trafford.
