According to a report by The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur are ready to snatch Manchester United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone as back-up to Hugo Lloris.
Johnstone hinted earlier this month that he will be quitting Old Trafford when his contract expires at the end of the campaign.
The Sun claims that the 25-year-old has performed well in the second tier with Aston Villa this season and is sought after by the Villans on a permanent basis, but that competition will be provided by Tottenham.
United are understood to still have the opportunity to extend Sam Johnstone's contract by a further 12 months, however, which they may take up before then letting him go for a fee.
Michel Vorm is the Lilywhites' present second-choice keeper, being constrained to 10 starts in all competitions this term – only one of which has come in the Premier League.
