Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr has commented on Chelsea forward Victor Moses' retirement decision amid club struggles and talks of a return to the national team.
Rohr shared some details of his conversation with the Kaduna-born player at the wake of his retirement back in August after the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
“I tried to convince him that it was not the best time to retire but he said he wanted to focus on his club career,” the German coach said.
The 27-year-old’s future with Chelsea is in jeopardy since the arrival of Italian manager, Maurizio Sarri with a different playing system in July.
Rohr has also acknowledged Moses' situation while also sending good wishes towards the player.
“I hope he will get an opportunity to play in @ChelseaFC or with another club,” Rohr concluded.
Nigeria are now building towards the 2019 AFCON tournament in Cameroon next June after concealing its place last weekend.
