Ademola Lookman’s potential international switch to Nigeria was looking all done and dusted as at last week following reports in the media.
The England-born has represented the Three Lions at the youth level, including the U20 World Cup, which he won in 2017.
However, the former Everton player also qualifies to represent the three-time African champions through his parents, and Lookman is interested in playing for the Super Eagles at the international level.
The report that the 23-year-old had completed his international switch last week has now been proven to be false as Lookman does not have a Nigerian passport yet.
Lookman needs a Nigerian passport before he can even apply to FIFA and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) know this.
It remains to be seen if the RB Leipzig star would speed up the application process with the Africa Cup of Nations and World Cup taking place next year.
