Christian Pulisic was left out of Chelsea's season opener away at Brighton on Monday while Timo Werner was left nursing an injury following a hefty collision when winning The Blues a penalty.
Frank Lampard has now revealed that Werner should be fit for Sunday's crunch clash with Liverpool but doubts remain over Pulisic.
Werner played the full 90 minutes as the German striker made his competitive debut for the club.
“He is one who has had some games, he has a bit of fitness, and you could see that,” Lampard said.
“He took a knock when he won the penalty which we hope is a dead leg. I would like to think if it is that we have a bit of time to get him back [for the Liverpool game].”
The Blues were without the talents of Pulisic for their trip to the Amex Stadium, as the American is still continuing his rehabilitation from an injury sustained in last month's FA Cup final.
But Lampard is unsure whether the forward will play any part at Stamford Bridge at the weekend.
“Christian was training with us last week but he had a bit of discomfort a couple of days ago when he was trying to be in contention for today,” Lampard said after the match.
“It would have been a big ask for today and he has had to take a few steps back and we will have to see.”
