The Management and players of Vandrezzer Football Club of Akwa Ibom have expressed their sympathy with players and officials of FC Ifeanyi Ubah who were attacked by robbers along Lokoja road on Friday.
FC Ifeanyi Ubah were on their way to honour a Nigeria Professional Football League matchday-six encounter against Jigawa Golden Stars in Kano when the incident occurred.
The Nigeria National League outfit through a media statement also condemned in totality the attack and wished the injured speedy recovery.
“While we are thankful that no life was lost, we would like to wish the injured members of the team speedy recovery. We are with them in prayers and thoughts,” reads the statement from the club.
“We condemn in totality robbers dressed up in NYSC uniforms to cause harm and harass innocent citizens.
“This is indeed a sad commentary for Nigeria and Nigerian football. It is also a heavy discouragement for investors in this beautiful game that unites our dear country.
“Once again, our hearts and prayers are with FC Ifeanyi Ubah during this trying period.”
