Wijnaldum Free Transfer From Liverpool Set To Blow Up

Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum is reportedly set to leave Anfield with several clubs in the running to land the 30-year-old.

It seems the Dutch international is determined to target a new challenge after turning down offers of a new contract.

And while he has been tipped to join his former international manager Ronald Koeman at Barcelona, they are not the only club who the midfielder has been offered to.

European champions Bayern Munich have been handed the chance to sign Wijnaldum this summer, according to Abendzeitung.

The German publication claims Wijnaldum is ‘about to say goodbye' with Bayern recently contacted over the availability of the midfielder.

However, it seems the Bundesliga giants have ruled out a move due to the player's age and high wage demands.

Wijnaldum is on around £90,000 a week at Liverpool, according to Spotrac.

AZ claims Bayern instead want to sign Borussia Mönchengladbach star Florian Neuhaus.

So Barcelona still looks the most likely option for Wijnaldum – although reports from Spain over the weekend claimed the Catalan club had backtracked somewhat over their interest.

Juventus have also been touted as a potential destination, while the latest surprising claim is that Chelsea could also be interested, with the future of Jorginho uncertain.
