Emmanuel Amuneke, who is now a FIFA Technical study group member, has stated that Nigeria must get at least a draw against Croatia in their 2018 FIFA World Cup opener on tonight to stand a chance of qualifying from their tough group D.
Earlier today, the Argentine team were held to a surprising 1-1 draw in their first group game by debutants, Iceland with an inspirational captain, Lionel Messi stifled by the Icelandic team.
The Ex Nigerian international who featured for the Super Eagles at the 1994 FIFA World Cup added that the team’s technical crew must fashion out a way to outwit the two teams who played out a draw in Kazan.
“There are no minnows anymore in football and that was what Iceland showed us today,” the 1995 African Footballer of the year told CSN from Russia in a chat.
“Iceland were compact and won all the second balls which made Argentina struggle all through the game but we must admit that aside from their hard work and astute defending, they were lucky.”
Argentina’s next match will be against Croatia.
