Real Madrid are no longer going to entertain offers for Marco Asensio after Zinedine Zidane declared his resolve to make the Spaniard a fundamental part of his side.
Asensio’s future appeared to be in doubt under former boss Julen Lopetegui, with Real chiefs ready to cash in for £100million.
Their stance attracted interest from Premier League giants Liverpool and Chelsea – both of whom are long term admirers of the 23-year-old – and Asensio's lack of game time under Santiago Solari and Lopetegui appeared to suggest his days at the Santiago Bernabeu may be numbered.
Zidane has sent a clear message that he wants to make the Spain international a key player in his Madrid side.
“I have spoken to him and told him that he will be fundamental to the team,” he said.
Asensio was on the pitch for the complete 90 minutes in Zidane's first match back in charge as the Spanish giants beat Celta Vigo 2-0.
