The Carling Black Label Cup will take place on Saturday, 6th January 2024. This will be the 11th edition of the tournament since its inception in 2011. In this article, we'll talk about the format, last winners and live streaming options.
Who will play in the Carling Black Label Cup?
As we've previously mentioned, the Carling Black Label Cup initially kicked off in 2011. However, up until 2022, this competition involved Soweto derby rivals Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates. The format of this one-day tournament changed a bit in 2022, as fans were allowed to vote for two additional teams. Interestingly, the fans could also decide which substitutions to make in-game by voting through text messages.
That said, South Africa's Champion Beer, Carling Black Label, in partnership with the Premier Soccer League (PSL), officially launched the first edition of the Carling Knockout Cup last year. All 16 teams in the country's top-flight faced each other in a knockout format, with Stellenbosch eventually coming out on top.

With that in mind, the format of the Black Label Cup has changed once more. Instead of the traditional Soweto teams, the Carling Knockout Cup champions will square off against an All-Star team, which will be voted by Carling Black Label customers.
Of the 11 players in the Carling All-Star team, six will be from the PSL, while the other five will be from the Diski Challenge.

It's fair to point out that three teams have won the Carling Black Label Cup in the past. Orlando Pirates have five titles to their name, Kaizer Chiefs have won it four times, while Mamelodi Sundowns won their first and only title in their debut in 2022. These are the previous winners of this event:
