The camp of the Super Eagles B has been bubbling since the team was announced by coach Salisu Yusuf some weeks back. Camped at the Bolton White Apartments in Abuja, Yusuf and his team of assistants have been perfecting their strategies for the African Nations Championship qualifying match against Ghana in a fortnight.
Coach Yusuf August 8 called to camp 35 players to battle for shirts ahead of the 2023 African Nations Championship qualifying fixture.
The first set of 31 players arrived at the Bolton White Apartments on Wednesday, while the other three joined the following day.
Goalkeepers Adeyinka Adewale and Kayode Bankole are the last set of players to turn up in camp. Akwa United’s Adewale arrived on Sunday afternoon to complete the initial number of invited players to the camp of the Super Eagles B.
The keeper was given the permission by the team’s management to sort out a few family matters before joining his teammates. Although, reports in the media emerged that he was in Sudan to finalize a move to Al Hilal Omdurman but the deal collapsed unfortunately.
Adeyinka, who was in the Super Eagles A squad for the friendlies against Mexico and Ecuador earlier in the year, as well as the Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Sierra Leone and Sao Tome and Principe in June, is now fully focused on the task at hand upon his arrival in camp.
Meanwhile, Remo Stars’ Kayode was called up as a replacement for Rivers United’s Sochima Victor who is injured. Kayode had an excellent debut campaign in the topflight as Remo Stars reached the continent for the first time in their history.
The Eagles B are preparing for their first leg clash with the Black Galaxies in Cape Coast on August 28 and the return encounter has been billed for the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on Saturday, September 3.
The winner of the tie will qualify for the 7th African Nations Championship finals to be staged in Algeria early next year.
