Christian Eriksen has now spoken for the first time after suffering a cardiac arrest on the pitch on Saturday.
The Denmark star thanked fans for their well-wishes in a short statement released through his agent to Gazzetta dello Sport.
“Thank you, I won't give up. I feel better now – but I want to understand what's happened,” he said.
“I want to say thank you all for what you did for me.”
Inter Milan star Eriksen sent a short message to his Denmark teammates from the hospital to reassure them that he was fine.
Denmark coach Kasper Hjumland relayed Eriksen's message to his teammates from hospital, saying that the playmaker had said: “I think you are feeling worse than I am. I feel as if I'm about to go training now, boys.”
Hjumland added: “Christian is in good spirits and it's a huge relief for the players after all this uncertainty.
“There is no doubt that we have been on the ropes.”
They went on to finish the match, which they lost 1-0.
