Lampard Relegates Kepa To No3-Choice Keeper At Chelsea

Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga has been told he is now the third-choice stopper at Stamford Bridge.

The 26-year-old has lost his place in between the sticks in recent weeks, being replaced by summer signing Edouard Mendy after a host of errors last season.

But could the Spaniard even fall behind veteran goalkeeper Willy Caballero in the pecking order as the club look to offload him?

Pundit Tony Cascarino believes the player's latest mistake against Southampton on Saturday could see Chelsea boss Frank Lampard demote the gloveman even further.

“He’s gone from number one to number two goalkeeper, and after [the Southampton] performance he’s probably number three now,” he told talkSPORT.

“He won’t even make the bench now as [Willy] Caballero will be number two.

“I’m a bit surprised [Lampard] chose to play Kepa; he doesn’t fancy Kepa and it’s obvious.

“Caballero has done very little wrong, but because they’ve paid such a high fee for a player they need to justify playing him to give him an opportunity to perform.”
