Luis Campos is on a five-man shortlist to become the new director of football at Manchester United, according to reports.
The Master talent spotter is on a five-man shortlist that includes Monaco sporting director Paul Mitchell and Ajax's Marc Overmars, the Record has said.
55-year-old Campos is thought to have been strongly suggested for the role by Jose Mourinho when he was United boss, with rumours circling that executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward felt the move would have given the Portuguese too much power.
Woodward may have been swayed by Campos's exceptional track record, which includes helping to discover the likes of Bernardo Silva, Kylian Mbappe and Anthony Martial during his time at former club Monaco.
Former Real Madrid scout Campos also recorded a £63million on Nicolas Pepe and snapped Fabinho and Thomas Lemar up on free transfers.
According to the report, United owners the Glazer family want to add expertise to improve the club's recruitment and transfer dealings.
