Newcastle will be owing Tottenham £12.5million if they go ahead and appoint former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino this month.
It is widely reported that the new would-be owners – a Saudi Arabian consortium led by crown prince Abdullah bin – want to replace manager Steve Bruce with Pochettino when the £300m takeover is completed.
However, according to ESPN, Tottenham would be owed a whopping £12.5m if the 48-year-old accepts a deal this month, except the six-time FA Cup winners wait until June as the fee would then be waived.
GoalBall understands that Pochettino signed an agreement with Tottenham after getting sacked which meant he could not join another club for six months.
That period of time will expire on June 1 so Newcastle must wait another four weeks to land their man.
It has been suggested the Magpies are willing to make Pochettino the second-highest paid manager in the Premier League with a massive £19m-a-year contract.
