Victor Moses Biography
Football
Victor Moses has enjoyed an illustrious career that kicked off from a very young age after been signed to Crystal Palace Football Academy.
His National exploits also paint a great narrative that has defined the success of the former Nigerian International.
Victor Moses' career started with a twist of some sorts as he really didn't dream of playing football at the national or European level.
The young talented Nigerian started playing football in the streets while in Nigerian until tragedy struck.
His parents were reportedly killed after a Northern Riot that ravaged many homes to leave him orphaned. His uncle and some other relatives were able to mobilize his escape to the UK, and he soon settled in England under foster care.
Moses began playing football in his school, Stanley Technical High School and was able to attract Crystal Palace football scouts as his school wasn't so far away from the club stadium.
Crystal palace recommended him to other school coaches, where he excelled.
After a couple of years playing with these schools and simultaneously being registered with Palace Academy, Moses eventually got his debut start at the age of 16 in a championship game against Cardiff to kick start his Club Career.
Club Career
Crystal Palace and Wigan Athletic
Moses's debut march against Cardiff ended in a 1-1 draw on November 6, 2007.
He performed better in the following game and eventually scored his first goal on March 12, 2008, to earn a draw against West Bromwich Albion.
Victor played a total of 16 games in his debut season, and despite losing the Championship Playoff to Bristol City, he had a great individual performance such that the club asked him for an extension.
Signing an extension, Moses next season was poor and a reflection of Palace's horrible campaign, with the team finishing the championship at 15th.
The following season was that of redemption as he went on to score six goals in the first eight games of the season.
His season performance drew interest from other clubs, and he signed a contract with Wigan Athletic.
At Wigan, Moses struggled for starting position due to injuries and competition with more preferred striker Charles N'zogbia.
He, however, got to start at the 2011-2012 season after N'zogbia's departure from the club.
Wigan eventually let go of him to Chelsea after the Premier League side offered a Bid for the striker.
Chelsea And Loan Spells
Moses's season with Chelsea was that of many Ups and few downs, as his fine performances, when given a chance, did not exactly secure him a starting position.
Victor made his starting debut in the 2012-2013 season against Wolves in the League Cup and scored his first goal in the 71st minute.
In the FA semi-final match against Manchester United, which the blues won 5-4, he was named the man of the match.
While Moses found opportunity hard to come by in The EPL, he regularly featured in the Europa League and scored five goals, including crucial goals in both legs against Basel in the semi-finals.
He, however, did not play the final game, which Chelsea won 2-1
Not able to gain a starting position in Chelsea, Moses went on loans in Liverpool, stoke city, and West ham before his return to Chelsea.
He was again sent on another loan spell to Fenerbahçe, Inter Milan, and Spartak Moscow. He eventually settled for Spartak Moscow after he was told he had no place in the team.
Victor Moses made 128 appearances across nine years at Chelsea after signing for the club from Wigan Athletic in 2012.
Current Club: Spartak Moskow
After numerous time-outs on loans in clubs such as Liverpool, Westham, and Stoke City, Moses eventually joined Russian top-flight club, Spartak Moskow, on a season-long loan in 2020.
And then after a successful season with the giants of Russia, he penned down a permanent transfer deal with Spartak Moscow.
