Mikel Artetaâs side were handed a massive boost in their pursuit of the Norway captain after it was revealed that Carlo Ancelotti had not registered him in Madridâs LaLiga squad for their first league match of the season, nor has he been given a shirt number.
Odegaard is unlikely to break into the starting 11 with Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, Federico Valverde, Isco, Dani Ceballos and Casemiro all appearing to be ahead of the Norwegian in Ancelottiâs pecking order.
The Gunners have been monitoring his situation all summer after he returned to Spain, and could now make their move with his future at the Santiago Bernabéu looking bleak.
According to El Confidencial, the 13-time European champions value Odegaard at â¬50m, but also say the âtransfer could be closedâ for â¬40m.
Fabrizio Romano claim on Twitter that the north Londoners are preparing a bid for the 22-year-old:
âArsenal are prepared to make a bid to sign Martin Ãdegaard on a permanent deal. Heâs always been Edu and Artetaâs priority as number 10.
