Nigeria would be delighted with the final result as they took on the less-fancied African side (CAR) the Central African Republic in the second leg of their World Cup qualifying match.
The Super Eagles were able to pull through with a good result as the match was played in Douala, Cameroon.
Despite the level of criticism and high expectations that trailed the tie from Nigeria's point of view, the team was able to focus and secure the win.
Following the Super Eagles' victory over their CAR counterpart, Goalballlive.com evaluates the three (3) key lessons we've learnt from the Eagles Victory.
Nigeria gets their revenge
It was a massive statement of discretion as Nigeria lost the first leg unceremoniously at home.
And against a lowly underdog in the continent of Africa, it was a big shame for the entire Nigerian as a whole.
With the pedigree the West African giants have in the history of the game, it was a big letdown for them to lose to CAR in the first place not minding even further that the loss was in front of the Nigerian fans.
But with the 0-2 win in the reverse fixture played on Sunday, the Super Eagles have gotten their own pound of flesh via their opposition as the CAR counterpart was boastful after their 0-1 away win over Nigeria in Lagos on Thursday.
Leon Balogun make amends
After the poor clearance by the former Brighton and Hove Albion defender which allowed the Super-Sub Karl Namnganda to net the winner against Nigeria, it was a sore day for Nigerian football.
What on earth was he (Balogun) thinking prior to the mistake that led to the goal Nigeria conceded?
That's what many Nigerians and viewers of the match would be wondering based on that scenario.
But he stood strong to save his face by netting Nigeria's first goal in the contest against the Central African Republic.
The goal gave Nigeria the deserved lead in the 29th minute before Napoli star man Victor Osimhen wrapped up proceedings for the Super Eagles with the second goal of the match.
It was relatively an important moment for Balogun on the Nigerian shirt, as the experienced (Glasgow) Rangers campaigner scored to erase the errors of last week.
It was Balogun's first goal for Nigeria. And how important it is to the entire team and the players' confidence and repute cannot be underestimated following the below-par showing the Super Eagles had at home in Lagos on Thursday.
Ahmed Musa is now a centurion for Nigeria
After much deliberations as to the number of games the former Kano Pillars star has played or Nigeria, it was confirmed that Ahmed Musa is now a centurion for the Super Eagles.
The forward was initially thought to have reached the 100 caps mark when Nigeria triumphed 1-2 over Cape Verde Islands in September.
But with reports coming out to confirm that has Ahmed Musa has 98 caps rather than the 100 caps as at then, the records really made the rounds in the media.
FIFA stated that the two games, against Togo in an international friendly in 2017 where the Super Eagles won 3-0 was not recognized as a full grade A international match.
While the World Cup qualifiers against Algeria the same year in Algiers was cancelled since Nigeria fielded an ineligible player.
But with the doubleheader Musa completed against CAR Central African Republic on Sunday, there is no doubting his 100 caps summation.
Even as he joins the duo of Veteran Super Eagles defender Joseph Yobo and former goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama on Nigeria's centurion list.
