Exclusive: Why NFF Must Settle S’Eagles Unpaid Bonuses -Aikhomogbe Reveals

Former Nigerian Goalkeeper, Andrew Aikhomogbe has called on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to quickly settle the Super Eagles unpaid bonus in order not to distract the team from Tuesday's 2022 World Cup qualifier against Cape Verde.

Recall that the Super Eagles defeated Liberia 2-0 at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos but immediately after the game, the NFF informed the players their bonuses will be paid in Naira as against the agreed dollars.

The players, however, rejected the sum of ₦1million the NFF offered as match bonuses. According to them, they did not agree to the said amount.

However, in a chat with Aikhomogbe from his Cairo base in Egypt, he told Goalballlive that the NFF should have done everything to avoid such an ugly incident.

“It is so sad. I expected the Nigeria Football Federation to have settled this issue even before the team played Liberia.

“This is not the best way to begin a campaign like the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

“I just hope they will be able to sort their differences before the game against Cape Verde so that the players can concentrate and get the right results.”
