Former England Striker Emile Heskey has urged Liverpool to make a move for Nigeria's Victor Osimhen.

Osimhem has become one of the most-sought after forwards in Europe at the moment, as several clubs continue to swarm around Nigeria international Victor Osimhen ahead of the next transfer window.

While Liverpool recently signed Uruguayan star Darwin Nunez following the departure of Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich, Anfield great Heskey believes the Reds should go all out to sign the Nigerian, whom he believed has the qualities the club required.

“He would certainly give them something different to what they have now,” Heskey told Safe betting site (as per Anfield Watch).

“He’s different from Nunez who can play out wide; Osimhen would be that central goal threat.

“He’s quick, has an eye for goal, and can finish really well with both feet. He’s a top player. I think Napoli paid quite a lot for him, so that’s why he’s commanding a £100m transfer fee.

“I saw him score against Leicester last season in the Europa League and he’s a top striker and would certainly enhance Liverpool’s options in attack without a doubt.

“He’s a phenomenal player, and I think his pace means he would be very much suited to the Premier League.”

The 23-year-old forward joined Napoli in 2020 for a club record deal of £81m plus adds on and has become an integral part of the Italian club.

Despite a season blighted with injuries, the Super Eagles forward is the Italian Serie A’s top goalscorer with nine goals in 11 games.

By doing so, he has been able to help Luciano Spalleti’s side top the league table while also finishing ahead of Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League group stages.

Over the past few weeks, the former Lille player has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United while several top clubs in Europe including Chelsea and Real Madrid have also been monitoring the situation surrounding the striker.

Osimhen, who recently won the Global Soccer’s “Emerging Young Player of the Year ” award in Doha, is currently on break due to Super Eagles’ failure to qualify for the ongoing 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
