Manchester United's new signing and Old Trafford returnee, Cristiano Ronaldo has received the plaque for most international football goals scored by a player from Guinness World Record.
The ace goalscorer scored two late goals in the 89th and added minutes on Wednesday as Portugal defeated the Republic of Ireland 2-1 in the 2022 World Cup qualifier.
The two goals summed up the 111 international goals Ronaldo has scored, overtaking Ali Daei of Iran who held the honour initially with 109 goals.
While Ali Daei scored his sum in 149 caps, Ronaldo however scored his 111 goals after 180 appearances.
In his appreciation to Guinness World Record for the honor, he said on his official Facebook page: “Thank you to the Guinness World Records. Always good to be recognized as a world record-breaker.
“Let’s keep trying to set the numbers even higher!” he concluded.
Ronald who has since returned to Manchester United from Portugal camp is expected to make his second debut for the Red Devils against Newcastle on Saturday next week.
