CAF Confederation Cup semi-final: Raja Casablanca defeat Enyimba

Enyimba has lost 1-0 to Raja Casablanca in their first-leg of the CAF Confederation Cup semi-final after Stanley Digma missed a penalty on Wednesday.

The victory away from home at the Enyimba International Stadium gives Raja an upper-hand ahead of the semi-final second leg on October 24.

Even with playing in front of their home crowd, Enyimba started a little slowly and struggled to get their foot on the ball.

Raja had no such issues with their first attempt on goal coming in the sixth minute when Baye Niasse got onto the end of a pin-point cross into the box, but his ten-yard header shaved the wrong side of the post.

The Nigerian team finally managed to threaten the Moroccan team’s goal in the 15th minute when Augustine Oladapo let fly from long range, but his effort was well-saved by the Raja goalkeeper Anas Znithi.

Three minutes into the second half Raja took the lead when some swift play by the visitors concluded with Abdelilah Hafidi finding the back of the net with a clinical finish which made it 1-0.

Even so, Enyimba were afforded the perfect opportunity to draw level when they were awarded a penalty just after the hour mark but Stanley Digma fired wide.
