Super Eagles players are scattered worldwide, playing for different clubs on different continents and making Nigeria proud.

In case you're still wondering, the Super Eagles is the senior national team of Nigeria.

The team has produced several top players and won plaudits around the world. Some honours won by the team include the Africa Cup of Nations (thrice) and were the fifth most entertaining team at the FIFA 1994 World Cup.

We look at current Super Eagles players and their state of origin.

Victor Osimhen is currently the highest-ranked of the Super Eagles players. Of course, other players are famous worldwide like Leicester City duo Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi and Samuel Chukwueze who currently plies his trade for Serie A side AC Milan.

It is also important to note that six current Super Eagles players were born abroad: William Troost-Ekong, Calvin Bassey, Semi Ajayi, Ola Aina, Joseph Aribo and Ademola Lookman.

Victor Osimhen debuted for the Super Eagles in 2017. He has scored 21 goals from 35 games for Nigeria.

Osimhen is a well-sought-after player with Chelsea, Manchester United and PSG all looking to sign him in 2024.

He helped Napoli win the Scudetto in 2023 (the first time in 33 years) and also won the Capocannoniere with 26 goals.

Samuel Chukwueze

Samuel Chukwueze is also one of the highly-rated Super Eagles players and the winger made his debut in 2018; and has gone on to make 36 appearances with five goals to his name.

Kelechi Promise Iheanacho

Kelechi Iheanacho made his senior debut for Nigeria in 2015 and played at the 2018 FIFA World Cup and 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

He made two appearances for the Super Eagles at AFCON 2023 and has scored 13 goals from 46 appearances.

Joseph Oluwaseyi Temitope Aribo

Position: Midfielder

Born and raised in London, Aribo plays for the Nigeria national team, being eligible due to his heritage. He gained his first cap in 2019 and was part of their squad for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations. He has 2 goals in 23 appearances for the Super Eagles.

Wilfred Onyinye Ndidi

Wilfred Ndidi has been one of the most consistent Super Eagles players and was called up to the senior Nigeria national football team on 8 October 2015, making his debut in the friendly game against DR Congo.

He has gone on to make 56 appearances for Nigeria.

Tarem Moffi

Tarem Moffi is one of the uprising Super Eagles players. He made his Super Eagles debut in 2021 and has scored three goals in 16 appearances.

Zaidu Sanusi

Position: Defender

Zaidu Sanusi made his Super Eagles debut in 2020 and has appeared for Nigeria on 15 occasions. He played at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. However, Sanusi is still searching for his first goal for Nigeria.

Ahmed Musa

Position: Forward

The 2013 AFCON winner debuted for the Super Eagles in 2010, scoring 16 goals in 108 appearances for Nigeria. Ahmed Musa became the first Nigerian to score more than once in a FIFA World Cup match, after scoring twice against Argentina in the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Musa is also the first Nigerian to score in two FIFA World Cup competitions, after scoring twice against Iceland at the 2018 FIFA World Cup group stage.

With 109 appearances, he is Nigeria's most capped player.

Victor Ndukaub Sochima

Position: Goalkeeper

Victor Ndukaub Sochima is a professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Nigeria Professional Football League side Rivers United. He got his first call-up to the Super Eagles in 2023, but he is yet to make his debut.

Ademola Olajade Alade Lookman

Position: Forward

Ademola Lookman was born in England to Nigerian parents and represented England at the youth level. He has cemented his name as one of the Super Eagles players to be respected.

Lookman opted to play for Nigeria having been granted a license by FIFA to do so in 2021. He has made 7 appearances for Nigeria with a goal to his name.

Alexander Chuka Iwobi

State of Origin: Anambra State (Eastern Nigeria)

Position: Midfielder

Iwobi represented England up to under-18 level before switching to represent Nigeria. He made his senior international debut for Nigeria in October 2015 and has gone on to score 10 goals in 64 appearances for Nigeria Super Eagles. He was part of the FIFA World Cup squad in 2018 and the Africa Cup of Nations in 2019 and 2021, finishing third at the 2019 tournament.

Francis Odinaka Uzoho

Position: Goalkeeper

At the Senior Level, Francis Uzoho debuted for Nigeria in the Super Eagles' 4-2 triumph over England in a Friendly Match. The Player replaced Daniel Akpeyi in between the Sticks for Nigeria.

Semi Ajayi

Position: Defender

Ajayi received his first call-up to the senior team in August 2018 for the 2019 African Cup of Nations Qualifiers, he described it as a “dream” call-up.

He made his debut against Seychelles in the 2019 Nation Cup qualifiers, coming on for the injured Chidozie Awaziem in the 73rd minute. He has 24 caps for the Super Eagles.

Daniel Bameyi

Position: Defender

Bameyi was first called up to the senior team of Nigeria in November 2022, for a friendly game against Costa Rica. He debuted in the 2–0 loss.

He was again called up to the senior squad for two 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualification games against Guinea-Bissau.

Kenneth Omeruo

Position: Defender

On 9 January 2013, at 19 he played for the senior team for the first time in a goalless draw against Cape Verde. He then played in all of Nigeria's matches at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations as Nigeria went on to win the competition for the third time.

He has 60 caps and counting and has scored 1 goal for Nigeria.

Kevin Ufuoma Akpoguma

Position: Defender

Born to a German mother and a Nigerian father, Kevin was eligible to play for both countries. In October 2018 he stated that he was open to playing for Nigeria.

On 21 September 2020, Nigeria national team coach Gernot Rohr stated that Akpoguma had switched allegiance to play for the Nigeria national team. He has 4 caps as of 2023.

Frank Ogochukwu Onyeka

State of Origin: Born in Benin City – From Mbala, Isuochi, Abia State

Position: Forward

Onyeka received his first call-up for the Nigeria national team on 22 September 2020 for the friendly matches against Algeria and Tunisia in Austria on 5 and 9 October 2020, respectively.

He debuted with the Nigeria national team in a friendly 1–0 loss to Algeria on 9 October 2020. He has 25 caps and 1 goal for Nigeria.

Moses Simon

Position: Forward

Simon received his first call-up to the Nigeria national team by coach Daniel Amokachi in March 2015 and debuted on the 25th of the same month in an international friendly against Uganda, when he replaced Anthony Ujah.

He has 72 caps and has scored nine goals for the Super Eagles.

Bright Osayi-Samuel

Position: Winger

After successful seasons with Fenerbahçe, on 11 November 2022, Osayi-Samuel received his first International call-up from Nigeria to play in a friendly game against Portugal.

He was in the starting eleven and played 90 minutes for his international debut. He has 14 caps for the Eagles as of 2023.

Paul Ebere Onuachu

Position: Forward

In March 2019 he received his first call-up to the Nigerian senior team. On 26 March 2019, Onuachu scored his first goal for Nigeria in a friendly match against Egypt. The goal was scored within the first ten seconds of the game, and the fastest ever scored for Nigeria.

He's been capped 22 times at the time of writing and has 3 goals for Nigeria.

Calvin Bassey

Position: Defender

Bassey was born in Italy but has represented Nigeria at international level since making his debut in a 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification game against Ghana in March 2022. He has 23 caps for Nigeria.

William Paul Troost-Ekong

Position: Defender

Born in the Netherlands into a mixed Dutch and Nigerian family, he was eligible to play for the Netherlands and Nigeria.

He debuted for Nigeria in 2015. Ekong now has 71 caps for the Super Eagles, scoring seven goals for the Super Eagles. He is AFCON's top-scoring defender.

Samson Tijani

Position: Midfielder

Nwachukwu contributed one goal and five assists to help the Bendel Insurance finish top of Group A at the end of the regular season and scored three times during the Nigeria Professional Football League playoffs to catch the eye of Peseiro. He got his Super Eagles call-up in 2023.

Having previously represented Germany at youth international levels, he declined the chance to represent Nigeria, in May 2018. However, in June 2023, he decided to switch his allegiance and announced his intention to represent the Nigeria national team.

Raphael Onyedika

Onyedika is a highly rated midfielder and there have been calls for his more inclusion in the team.

He is another of the Super Eagles players that excelled at AFCON 2023 despite limited opportunities. He started his international career with Nigeria in 2022.

Position: Forward

Many Nigerians wanted to see Victor Boniface at AFCON 2023, but injury denied him of being among the Super Eagles players to win a silver at the tournament.

He received his inaugural international call-up in 2023. He has five international caps.

Position: Forward

Orban is one of the numerous Super Eagles players struggling to break into the squad. He received his first international call in 2023 but has yet to make his debut for the national team.

Stanley Nwabali

DOB: 10 June 1996

Current Club: Chippa United

State of Origin: Egbema, Rivers State

Position: Goalkeeper

Nwabili is one of the Super Eagles players that rose to the occasion at AFCON 2023.

He earned his first cap for the Nigerian national team in 2021, in an international friendly match against Mexico in Los Angeles, United States.

In December 2023, he was called up for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast. Nwabali has eight caps for the Super Eagles.
