A number of high-profile names left Arsenal last summer under the then manager Unai Emery, but have had varying degrees of success
Alex Iwobi’s £30m transfer to Everton was by far the largest, with only small fees recouped for all the others.
Now let’s see just how these former Gunners’ players got on since leaving the Emirates last summer?
Aaron Ramsey
The Welshman only started nine league games, making a further six appearances from the bench, and consequently may well come back to England soon.
Ramsey was always likely to struggle with so much competition for central midfield spots at Juve; Adrien Rabiot also joined the same summer.
That’s the danger of making a step up the ladder without the buying club having to pay a transfer fee.
David Ospina
The 31-year-old has shared the number one spot for Napoli this season, featuring 11 times in the league and once in the Champions League.
However, injuries to Alex Meret explain why Ospina has had so many starts. He was signed as a backup, and will be pleased to have featured so heavily.
Nacho Monreal
The 34-year-old will be very happy with his debut campaign at Real Sociedad, where he has been a regular member of the side that is currently on course to qualify for the Champions League.
Monreal’s advanced years made it unlikely he would again qualify for Europe’s major competition, let alone as the first-choice left-back at a La Liga team.
Danny Welbeck
Welbeck has started just six league games for Watford to date, and could even find himself a Championship player by the start of 2020/21.
Carl Jenkinson
The 28-year-old right back has managed just five league games for Championship Nottingham Forest, taking his league total to a mere 15 in the last four years.
Laurent Koscielny
Before the Ligue 1 season was cancelled, Bordeaux were sitting mid-table, but just four points off fifth after a poor patch of form.
There would have still been enough time to turn their season around, and the 34-year-old long-time Arsenal servant – who has started 25 league games – would have played a big part.
Stephan Lichtsteiner
The former Juventus right-back has featured 15 times in the league for Augsburg, who sit five points above the dotted line.
That represents a good season for the Bundesliga side, and Lichtsteiner is a key member.

Alex Iwobi
The young Nigerian winger was a surprise departure, but he has done relatively well at Everton in spite of the fact the club have had a tumultuous season. Injuries have held Iwobi back, meaning just 13 league starts for his new club so far, but he has looked well-suited to the hybrid 4-3-3 / 4-4-2 that Carlo Ancelotti has instilled. No doubt, he’ll be a big player for the Italian.
