The long-term future of Victor Osimhen has been a major topic of discussion over the last couple of months and the latest news emerging is that he is willing to sign a pre-contract with Chelsea, according to TEAMTALK.

Chelsea are looking to bolster their attacking options and have identified Osimhen as a prime target ahead of the likes of Ivan Toney and Viktor Gyokeres.

While the Premier League giants are unlikely to make any significant swoop for Osimhen during the January transfer window, they are looking to lay the groundwork for a summer move for the Nigerian.

Ex-Blues' legends Didier Drogba and John Obi Mikel have reportedly been in constant contact with Osimhen to convince him to move to Stamford Bridge and the striker appears to be keen on joining Chelsea at the moment as recently shown in a subtle social media hint on his most recent birthday.

The West Londoners are looking to make as much progress as they can concerning signing Osimhen because they expect to face competition for his services.

Chelsea will most likely have to fork out the £112 million release clause attached to Osimhen's latest contract which the 25-year-old signed weeks ago to secure his immediate future at Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

Chelsea fans will be pleased by latest news on Osimhen

Having watched their team miss the second-most big chances in the Premier League this term, Chelsea fans simply cannot wait for their team to bring in a lethal striker to aid their conversion rate in front of goal.

Mauricio Pochettino's side currently sit 10th in the league standings just past the midway point of the 2023-24 campaign and are facing a second consecutive year without qualifying for any continental competition.

Nonetheless, Chelsea appear to be in pole position to land one of Europe's most-feared centre-forwards which makes for good reading amid what has been a turbulent season so far.

Meanwhile, Osimhen is currently focused on delivering continental glory for the Super Eagles of Nigeria at the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.

Osimhen and Nigeria get their AFCON journey underway with a clash against Equatorial Guinea on January 13.
