Leon Balogun was in action on Saturday as Wigan Athletic FC picked up a rare win in a Championship match, narrowly defeating Millwall 1-0 at the DW Stadium.
His performance this evening could give him more game times in the Latics’ first XI and more so a recall to the Super Eagles starting lineup.
After making his debut coming off the bench against Middlesbrough two weeks ago, the Nigeria international made his first start for Paul Cook’s men in the 2-2 draw in South Wales against Cardiff.
In his third appearance and second start for the club, Balogun was decisive in defence for the Championship side.
The 31-year-old attempted Two tackles, one interception and seven clearances as Wigan battled to defend the 1-0 lead that came courtesy of a Shaun Hutchinson own goal.
Balogun even showed some attacking side to his game, completing a dribble and registering a shot in the game.
The centre-back, who move to the Championship side on loan from Premier League club Brighton, was scored a 7.4 rating by whoscored.com, the third-best performer on the day.
