Victor Boniface was not in action when Bayer Leverkusen hit a unique milestone on Wednesday evening. The Bundesliga side beat every side in Europe's top five leagues to the 50-goal mark.
Bayer Leverkusen are on a hot streak this term and doing what is seemingly impossible. The Die Werkself has laid down a marker that even the irrepressible Bayern Munich are struggling to keep up with.
It should be a thing of pride for Nigerian fans that Super Eagles strike, Victor Boniface, is involved in the club's achievements.
Victor Boniface has scored several goals for Leverkusen and is their top scorer in the league with seven goals. He also has two from the Europa League.
Victor Boniface leading Bayer Leverkusen to a historic season
It seems this is the season that Bayer Leverkusen finally breaks their league duck. Die Werkself has had an impressive history, including reaching the UEFA Champions League final in 2002, where they lost 2-1 to Real Madrid.
They are yet to win the Bundesliga, but it seems that their manager, Xabi Alonso, is on to something this season.
Since their 1-0 loss to AS Roma in the first leg of their Europa League Semi-final clash last season, Bayer Leverkusen has not lost any game, and the addition of Victor Boniface to the squad this season has taken the side to another level.
With players like Florian Wirtz, Grimaldo and Jeremie Frimpong, the side has turned into a goal-scoring machine.

Bayer Leverkusen beat top sides like Bayern Munich (51), Real Madrid (29), Barcelona (31), Manchester City (33), Atletico Madrid (28) and Paris Saint Germain (29) to reach the 50-goal mark this season.
The modest Bundesliga side scored their 50th goal in a 5-2 mauling of Sandhausen in the German Cup. The fearsome thing is that they needed just 14 games to score 51 goals.
How Leverkusen scored 51 goals in 14 games
Bayer Leverkusen started the season with an 8-0 bashing of Teutonia Ottensen in the German Cup in August. They signalled their intent for the Bundesliga with a 3-2 win over RB Leipzig.
Die Werkself then won their next two games against Borussia Monchengladbach and Darmstadt with 3-0 and 5-1 scorelines.
The real test came against the Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich. Many expected them to lose, but they drew 2-2.
From then on, the German side laid the marker. Since the draw against the Bavarians, Bayer Leverkusen has gone on a nine-game winning streak, beating the likes of Mainz, FC Cologne, Wolfsburg and Freiburg.
Their biggest win of the season was the 5-1 thrashing of Qarabag FK in the Europa League. Victor Boniface also hit the mark in that game.

Can Leverkusen win the league?
With this kind of form, it is a massive challenge to bet against Die Werkself winning the Bundesliga. The Bundesliga leaders are still challenging in all three competitions and look good on the money to win the league.
They need every player fit, including Victor Boniface, to stand a chance of winning titles this season.
The victory over Sandhausen shows the depth in the squad, with the back from injury Patrick Schik not even getting a look in. Victor Boniface was a 90-minute bench warmer in the game.
