The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) kicks off in just over a week, and there's a lot of excitement ahead of the tournament. The Nigeria Super Eagles will play in Group A, where they'll meet hosts Ivory Coast, along with Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau.
With that in mind, there has been a lot of speculation about the Nigeria jersey for AFCON 2024. This is especially due to reports of the launch of a new Super Eagles jersey by official kit manufacturers Nike. When will the Nigeria jersey for AFCON 2024 be released?
On Friday 29th December 2023, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) addressed the rumours concerning the viral Nigeria jersey for AFCON 2024. In a statement posted on their social media accounts, Nigeria's football governing body pointed out that the rumours were in fact, false.
“Rumours about a new jersey launch between NIKE and the senior Men’s National team circulating on social media has been brought to our notice. We want to inform the general public that this claim is not true. At the moment, we have no jersey being launched for the Super Eagles for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations scheduled to hold in Cote’D’Ivoire next month,” the statement read.

It turns out the viral jerseys were designed by Chidubem Victor Nwokolo, a graphic and apparel designer based in Abuja. That said, what will the Super Eagles wear at the Africa Cup of Nations?
Although not yet confirmed, it is believed that the Nigeria jersey for AFCON 2024 will be the same ones they wore during the qualifying rounds; these were released by Nike in September 2022. The Super Eagles will kick-start their AFCON campaign against Equatorial Guinea on 14th January.
