South African Football Association's president, Danny Jordaan, has announced an interesting Bafana Bafana AFCON bonus for the national team, should they clinch the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title next month.

SAFA's management, led by Jordaan and his deputy Bennett Bailey, met with a couple of Bafana Bafana players on Sunday, as they signed a memorandum of agreement in Stellenbosch.

On the other hand, Masandawana's Ronwen Williams, Al Ahly's Percy Tau, as well as Themba Zwane, Siyanda Xulu and Veli Mothwa represented Bafana Bafana.

“I am here to make sure that every box has been ticked, there is nothing outstanding and everything is in place for them to focus on football, deliver on football and give us the kind of performances that will make the nation to take a deep breath and say, ‘We have a team'”, Jordaan said to SAFA media.

“We have to get the team to focus. We have to clear everything. If they win, they get R7-million. If they lose, they get nothing. We want the team to focus and to perform. We have, over a period of time, settled this team and we don't want to waste time discussing unnecessary stuff.”

Although we don't have all the details of the agreement, it is believed that the R7m will be shared between the players if they win the AFCON title. It's important to note that the 2023 AFCON prize money was increased to over R131m. That said, the players won't get anything if they're unable to win the title.

Bafana Bafana are still hunting for their second AFCON title. They won the 1996 edition of this competition as hosts. Hugo Broos' troops will kick off their 2023 AFCON campaign on 16th January, when they square off against Mali. They've also been paired with Namibia and Tunisia in Group E.
